At UCI, Paolo’s scientific career mainly focused on his pioneering work in the field of circadian rhythms. Paolo contributed broadly to the chronobiology field by defining light-induced chromatin modifications and enzymes that finetune circadian gene expression, such as Clock and MLL1.
Beginning in 2006, he worked for the University of California, Irvine as a professor and head of chair of the pharmacology department. In 2011, he founded and directed the Center of Epigenetics and Metabolism.
