Sierra Negra volcano is located on Isabela island, Galapagos. Isabela is the large, sea-horse-shaped mass to the west of the archipelago. Sierra Negra's wide, imposing crater dominates the skyline of southern Isabela.
The Sierra Negra volcano is located approximately 13 miles (21 kilometers) from Puerto Villamil, which is the primary settlement found on Isabela Island. Puerto Villamil is found on the coast, on the southern shore of the volcano, and the land is used for farming.
