Mar 22, 2024 · Louisiana Purchase through Early Statehood. Pike County was brought into the United States along with the rest of present-day Arkansas as a part of the Louisiana Purchase of 1803. On November 1, 1833, the territorial legislature created Pike County, named after explorer Zebulon Pike, out of Clark and Hempstead counties.
