May 13, 2024 · Andy Warhol ( born Andrew Warhola Jr.; August 6, 1928 – February 22, 1987) was an American visual artist, film director, producer, and leading figure in the pop art movement. Some of his best-known works include the silkscreen paintings Campbell's Soup Cans (1962) and Marilyn Diptych (1962).
Andy Warhol was a U.S. artist famous for his paintings of Campbell Soup cans and portraits of celebrities. Warhol himself became a celebrity, in part because of his unusual personality and sense of style. Andrew Warhola, as he was originally named, was born in Pennsylvania in about 1928.
