In a 2002 interview, his longtime friend Arthur Brauss said Diffring had actually died of complications from AIDS. Anton Diffring died in his home at Châteauneuf-Grasse in southern France, on the 20th of May, 1989 and, while no official statement as to his cause of death was ever released, fellow German actor Arthur Brauss suggested, in a 2002 Terrorverlag interview, that he died from an AIDS related condition.
According to an interview with German actor Arthur Brauss in 2002 at the Terrorverlag, AIDS was the true cause of Diffring's death. Anton Diffring is the brother of the artist Jacqueline Diffring. He was favored for the roles of Dr. Hans Fallanda and Dr. Bukovsky in Lifeforce (1985).
