Make sure you use the right game version though. For example, a recorded game for TAD will not appear in the list on Vanilla, and the other way around.
Yes it's possible. 3 things have to happen first: 1. Download observer-versions of some of the standard stock AOE3 maps here and install them in C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\RM3. 2. Host the map as a custom game.
