When an escaped convict crushes Preston's bike with his car and hands him a signed blank check for the damages, Preston fills in "one million dollars" and goes to the bank. The banker ( Michael Lerner) has been pressed to launder that exact amount by the convict, so he readily hands over the cash.

Blank Check may have been an excellent movie for kids, but ends up being uninspired in every way. The movie begins with a criminal named Quigley and he is a robber who goes to a secret hiding place to get his million dollars.

Overall, BLANK CHECK is an enjoyable film with a bare minimum of objectionable material. There are actually several worthwhile elements in the film: money doesn’t buy happiness; one’s family is more precious than possessions; and, a fool and his money are soon parted.

Bullied by his siblings and nagged by his parents, 11-year-old Preston is fed up with his family -- especially their frugality. But he gets his chance to teach them a lesson when a money-laundering criminal nearly bulldozes Preston with his car and gives the boy a blank check as compensation.
