     The instructions provided in the answer by Arjun KP don't work for more recent versions of Firefox (tested on v. 57.0.1). Instead, here's what I did:

     • Enter about:config in the address bar, accepting the risk if prompted.
     • Enter security.OCSP.enabled in the search bar.
     • Change the value of that setting from 1 to 0.
     • Reload the page that failed.

     After doing this, my site started working.

     However, as Arjun mentioned, this will reduce the security of Firefox, since it disables the Online Certificate Status Protocol. Ideally, you should reset the setting to 1 after you finish with that site, and not load other pages while it is set to 0.

     I'm assuming you have a web application, which is trying to access that restful service.

     First, you should not set your stores via javax.net.ssl.* properties, but use SSL configurations provided in WebSphere. So comment all these setProperty() calls. Second, you have to add your service server certificate to the trust store.

     Login to web admin console:

     • Go to Security > SSL certificate and key management > Key stores and certificates > NodeDefaultTrustStore > Signer certificates
     • Click Retrieve from port button, and specify hostname, 443 port, and Alias.
     • Click Retrieve singer information button.
     • Verify, if correct certificate is imported (parent).
     • Save, and restart.

     In some versions, the child certificate was imported (not the root), in that case, you will have to manually download the root certificate and intermediate (e.g. via browser, and import that one to the NodeDefaultTrustStore, but this time using Add button, not Retrieve..

     The certificate is plain invalid. You should either connect to imap.mailboxhost.com:993/imap/ssl or contact the administrator of the mail server and ask for a valid certificate.

     Note that while you can use the connection string imap.froiden.com:993/imap/ssl/novalidate-cert to skip certificate validation, you should not do so as that flag will allow any Man In The Middle attacker to read and write your email.

     Ran into the exact same problem the other day..

     To get my personal xpi to install permanently (under Firefox for Linux 77.0.1):

     • had to disable extension signing about:config , xpinstall.signatures.required = false (unfortunatelly this will need to stay, because signatures seems to be verified on every browser start)
     • add an explicit id to browser_specific_settings section in the manifest

     For example:

     "browser_specific_settings": { "gecko": { "id": "blahblah@blah" }}-

     The "<all_urls>" permission gives you access to every website someone goes to which is overkill. All you need to add for Firefox is the URL you are trying to call in the fetch (e.g., "https://host:port/api/somepath" in your example)

     Resulting Extension manifest permissions:
