The Chita Rivera Awards for Dance and Choreography (previously titled the Fred and Adele Astaire Awards) celebrate outstanding dance and choreography in theatre, both on Broadway and Off-Broadway and in film at an annual ceremony in New York City at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.
Rivera received numerous accolades including two Tony Awards, two Drama Desk Awards, and a Drama League Award. She was the first Latina and the first Latino American [1] to receive a Kennedy Center Honor in 2002, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009. [2] . She won the Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2018.
