Feb 1, 2022 · The spotted owl is famous. Listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act in 1990, it soon made the news more than any other animal in the Northwest. For some, the bird is a symbol of economic hardship because of its association with reduced logging in the region's productive forests.
Day one: Hike Murhut Falls, (one of the best waterfalls in Washington!) have lunch at the cabin, visit Dosewallips State Beach in the afternoon. Day two: Visit Rocky Brook Falls, then hike Fallsview Canyon Loop Trail. Other things I would have liked to do, but didn’t end up doing: Dosewallips River Trail (recommended by a ranger)
