Eric Serra is a 2010 OF with a 5'8'', 155 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Braddock HS. Slender young frame, wiry strength. 6.60/4.19 runner, quick actions. Very quick/strong arm, top potential CF defensive tools. Smooth swing with surprising bat speed/power. Good rhythm, squares up to all fields, has hand quickness, natural hitting abilty.
Eric Serra is a good composer, and his score fits Goldeneye but his style aged much faster than Berry or Arnold.
Whilst I'm glad that the tank sequence was rescored in the end, I think Eric Serra did a fantastic job making a synthy soundtrack that perfectly captures the high-tech themes of the whole film (that sonar noise especially never gets old).
Luc Besson was riding high in the mid-90s, on the back of La Femme Nikita and, even more impactfully, Léon: The Professional, and Éric Serra had become his go-to guy for scoring. So Serra’s track record more than fit the bill for what they were trying to achieve.
It was released by EMI on November 14, 1995. Serra composed and performed a number of synthesizer tracks, including the radically reworked version of the James Bond Theme that plays during the gun barrel sequence, while John Altman and David Arch provided the more traditional symphonic music.
In 1995, Serra was chosen to compose the score to the James Bond film GoldenEye, and produced a much more modern-sounding avant-garde soundtrack than had been used in previous Bond films. It met with mixed reviews from film critics.
