Opened in 1897, Elizabeth Park is the horticultural gem of the Hartford park system, with its many gardens, sweeping vistas, notable trees, and greenhouses. It is home to the first public rose garden (1904) in the country.
Elizabeth Park is a gem of West Hartford and Hartford providing a gorgeous accessible space for all visitors to enjoy, but well worth the trek for folks who live farther away (I myself venture here a few times a year and think it is well worth the 30 min drive).
