Life is a 1999 American buddy comedy-drama film directed by Ted Demme. The film stars Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence. It is the second film featuring Murphy and Lawrence together, the first being Boomerang, in 1992.

The storyline could have easily been a serious drama, but Martin and Eddie are two of the few people who are able to make you laugh in a movie about two men serving a life sentence for a murder they didn't commit.

Life (1999) with Eddie Murphy/Martin Lawrence. Discussion. Has anyone else seen this and found it to be an underrated gem? I was expecting something light and got smacked with a really heavy sense of what long-term friendships should be. I think it's Martin Lawrence's best perfomance.
