Just pick a game development program and get started – there are a lot out there, like Unity, Godot and Unreal, all free I believe. I use Unity myself and code in C#.

Hi, I'm looking for programs like RenPy, GameMaker Studio, RPG Maker etc... That are completely free/open source and gratis. Preferably in Python, C++, or Java, or if it has its own language that's fine as well. My game will basically be a very simple RPG with a twist, so the engine doesn't need to be super complex.
