Feb 26, 2024 · BERLIN (JTA) – Israeli director Guy Nattiv and British actor Helen Mirren have received a Dove Award from the Cinema for Peace Foundation for their joint work in the 2023 biopic, “Golda,” in which Mirren stars as Golda Meir, the fourth prime minister of Israel.
Golda is a 2023 biographical drama film directed by Guy Nattiv and written by Nicholas Martin. The film depicts actions of Golda Meir, the 4th Prime Minister of Israel, during the Yom Kippur War. It stars Helen Mirren, Camille Cottin and Liev Schreiber .
- What events does Golda dramatize? Golda started out as an intense, high-budget war movie, says Nattiv, whose 2018 short film, “Skin,” won an Academy Award.
- Meir’s early life. Meir was born on May 3, 1898, in Kyiv, Ukraine (then part of the Russian Empire). She was one of three surviving daughters of Moshe and Blume Mabovitch, a religious Jewish couple.
- Finding her way to the Middle East. In the kitchen of the Korngolds’ Denver duplex, which served as a hub for Jewish immigrants, Meir learned about politics.
