If you are a citizen or resident of the United States, you can file a tax return on Form 1040, 1040A or 1040EZ. The income you report can only come from employment wages, taxable scholarships and grants, Alaska Permanent Fund dividends, total interest earnings of $1,500 or less, and unemployment compensation.
