    Finally, let’s sub-divide this group again, this time by genre. Independent horror films which reached cinemas ever-so-slightly outperform Hollywood movies in profitability, although still with just under 50% breaking even. The poorest performing genres are sports movies and historical films with recoupment rates of around 16% and 20% respectively.

    These are just the headlines of a huge research project I have been conducting.
