If you are looking for a budget trip Laughlin is surely much cheaper in all areas than Vegas. While I typically make one trip a year to Laughlin my wife no longer accompanies as she likes the lights, shows, food and wonderful hotel rooms that Las Vegas offers and found Laughlin to be very boring.
Aside from the river, there is nothing in Laughlin that is superior to that of Las Vegas.
