Kazembe Ajamu Coleman (born: Samuel David Coleman) is Zendaya's father, bodyguard and manager. He is of African-American descent. After learning he had Nigerian roots, he had his name legally changed to one from the Yoruba tribe. He was married to Zendaya's mother, Claire Maree Stoermer for eight years.
Colemans parents hailed from Arkansas and were wed at fourteen. Coleman was later born to them in 1960. Yahoo News states "His ancestral heritage shows that he is from Nigeria, Macedonia, and Iceland, and is a descendant of sharecroppers."
Coleman has five children from a previous marriage, three girls; Katianna "Kizzi", Annabella and Kaylee, and two boys; Austin and Julien "EZ". After his divorce from his first wife, Coleman began a relationship with Stoermer in 1996, with Zendaya being born later. Zendaya was the only child born to them. .
In 2016, after eight years of marriage, it was publicly announced that Coleman and his wife Claire had gone their separate ways. From a post on Zendaya's instagram page regarding the news, she stated that her parents had privately already been separated for quite some time before then. Although they lead very private lives, they are occasionally seen accompanying her to events and on set.
The total number grandchildren Coleman has is unknown, but the numbers are around 7-10. From this picture Zendaya shared on her Instagram in 2016, seven children can be seen, however in the following years the family may have expanded, and there were family members who were likely not in the picture. Coleman's eldest son Julian has three children with his wife Sonja, the eldest being Ezenia nicknamed "Zink", who is close in age with Zendaya and the two are reportedly very close with each other. Another of his children who is known to have children themselves is Katiana. She lives in Oakland with her husband and two teenage daughters Imani and Isys.
According to People Magazine, Coleman has worked as a manager for his daughter Zendaya in recent years.
