Lester Aaron "Les" Pine (5 December 1917 – 11 August 2001; age 83) was a television writer hailing from Chicago, who, along with his wife, Tina, wrote an unproduced teleplay based on Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek: The Original Series second season episode "The Omega Glory" in 1967.
The story, written by Lester and Tina Pine, features a single mother (Diahann Carroll) living on welfare in Harlem with her children. The film shed light on systemic economic inequality and family life with a light touch and deepened the representation of the Black experience on film at the height of the “ blaxploitation ” era in Hollywood.
