  3. Mele Murals is a documentary about the transformative power of art through the unlikely union of graffiti and ancient Hawaiian culture. At the center of this story are the artists Estria Miyashiro (aka Estria) and John Hina (aka Prime), and a group of Native Hawaiian youth from the rural community of Waimea, HI.

  4. Each mural is created by a Hālau Pāheona (visual arts school). Area kūpuna (elders) and kumu (educators) guide the participating youth and artists, as well as the larger community, to explore the mana‘o pili pono (literal meaning) and kaona (poetic hidden meaning) of the mele and mo‘olelo.
