Country Codes Alpha-2 & Alpha-3. This is a complete list of all country ISO codes as described in the ISO 3166 international standard. These codes are used throughout the IT industry by computer systems and software to ease the identification of country names.
ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 codes are three-letter country codes defined in ISO 3166-1, part of the ISO 3166 standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), to represent countries, dependent territories, and special areas of geographical interest.
ISO 3166-1 alpha-3 – three-letter country codes which allow a better visual association between the codes and the country names than the alpha-2 codes.

ISO country codes. The International Organization for Standardization defines its country codes in standard 3166-1. ISO codes also consist of three capital letters in the alpha-3 version. For example, Germany has the IOC code "GER" for the English country name "Germany."
