Nordsternpark (lit. North Star Park) is a park in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. It is located on the compound of former mine of Zeche Nordstern. After the closure of the mine in 1993 the area was redeveloped. In 1997, the Bundesgartenschau (Federal Garden Exhibition) took place here. [1]
The new landmark of today's Nordsternpark is the "Hercules of Gelsenkirchen". It can be seen from afar. The statue, which stands on the winding tower of Shaft 2, is 18 metres tall. It symbolises the challenges of structural change. Source: mxr storytelling gmbh
Oct 10, 2015 · Nice park in Gelsenkirchen, located among some old abandoned coalmines. Especially in the summertime a good place to walk, bike, play or just lay around.
