Saul Zaentz (/ ˈ z æ n t s /; February 28, 1921 – January 3, 2014) was an American film producer and record company executive. He won the Academy Award for Best Picture three times and, in 1996, was awarded the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award .
Independent producer Saul Zaentz has created a string of award-winning films since the early 1970s. Almost all of Zaentz’s films have been adapted from literary sources, including Academy Award-winning films “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” (1975) and “Amadeus” (1984) as well as Academy Award nominated “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” (1988).
Saul Zaentz produced ten films, three of which won the Academy Award® for Best Picture: One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Amadeus and The English Patient. In all, the Company produced some ten beautifully crafted vintage films.
