Directing. Andrew V. McLaglen. Gossip columnist Mary K. Davis is found murdered and it seems there is no shortage of suspects. There was her politician-husband to whom she refused to grant a divorce. There was her timid secretary whom she bullied.
Synopsis. Dr. George Barnes ( Arthur Shields) and nurse Leona Walsh ( Josephine Hutchinson) arrive at their Seaside Clinic in the wee hours of the morning, and are surprised to notice a car already parked there. They find the door to the office bolted, but are finally let in by an intruder, gossip columnist Mary K. Davis ( Marian Seldes ).
A dowdy woman comes to Perry Mason for help. Her wealthy but ailing father is being blackmailed by a disreputable private investigator for embezzling and she's afraid if her fiancé finds out, he'll break off their engagement.
