They are all the same thing. #wikipediaLink . Unless you reside in the UK where the "pound sign" is their sign for currency: £ Perhaps your keyboard is set to a different region?

  2. Dec 16, 2011 · Contribute to the Windows forum! When I press Shift + 3 key I do not get the # symbol. Instead I get the symbol for the British Pound currency. I NEED THE SYMBOL FOR numbers, but I do not get it when I SHIFT+3. I need the symbol for number --- it is atop the numerical 3 on the keyboard.

Switch between languages using the Language bar Edit: It occurred to me that while the "pound key", the "number key" and the "hash key" are the same key on a US keyboard, the "pound key" is a different key on a UK keyboard.
