Robert Gordon's College is a co-educational independent school for day pupils in Aberdeen, Scotland. The school caters for pupils from Nursery through to S6 . History. Robert Gordon, an Aberdeen merchant, made his fortune in 18th century Poland trading from the Baltic port of Danzig, (Gdansk).
History of Gordon's. Robert Gordon was a merchant from Aberdeen who spent much of his life based in Poland. On retiring to Aberdeen, he decided to leave his considerable fortune to found a ‘Hospital’ for boys’ accommodation and education. The school was built on the site of the old Dominican (Black) Friars building.

1668: The birth of Robert Gordon, future founder of Robert Gordon's Hospital. 1684: He is elected a Burgess of Guild, enabling him to trade as a merchant in the city. 1689: Robert Gordon graduates from Marischal College and establishes business as a merchant trader in Danzig in the Baltic.
