The eighth season of RuPaul's Drag Race revealed its cast on February 1, 2016 and began airing on March 7, 2016. The winner of Season 8 walked out with the title of "America's Next Drag Superstar" and a cash prize of $100,000.
On May 16, 2016, Bob The Drag Queen was declared the winner of the season, with Kim Chi and Naomi Smalls placing as runners-up while Cynthia Lee Fontaine was voted Miss Congeniality by the audience.

Perhaps the most controversial crowning in Drag Race herstory (at least, until All Stars 3), Tyra Sanchez stood atop the season 2 podium ahead of Drag Race all-timers like Raven and Jujubee -- not to mention her bitter rival, Tatianna -- but has since become more famous for her off-stage drama.
- Raja. Following season 2's still-controversial win was perhaps the least-surprising crowning to date. Season 3's queen supreme, Raja, seemed destined to take home the crown from the very first episode, turning one stunning look after another.
- Sharon Needles. Happy Halloween, everybody! Sharon Needles placed her foot on season 4's neck the moment she walked down her first runway with her bald, post-apocalyptic zombie look and fake blood dripping out of her mouth, and never once "RuPaulogized" for being an unabashed, whimsical weirdo.
