  2. Yeah, I'm feeling the Mox rematch for Naito (where he regains the IWGP Title) and I have a feeling Shingo's got Bryan. So them missing tomorrow doesn't change my predictions. I just hope it's not gonna be Tanahashi failing to win the AEW Title for the third year in a row. That'd be pretty sad.

    King of Pro-Wrestling (2012) was a was a pro-wrestling event held by New Japan Pro-Wrestling on October 8, 2012 at Ryogoku Sumo Hall.  It was available as a pay-per-view in Japan on SKY PerfecTV! and NicoNico, and worldwide on UStream.

    Strongman & Yuji Nagata & Manabu Nakanishi vs. Tomohiro Ishii & Takashi Iizuka & Toru Yano

    The first match of the night featured the return to the ring of veteran wrestler Manabu Nakanishi, who was returning after being sidelined for over a year due to a neck injury.  Nakanishi nearly won the match with a german suplex, but with the referee distracted,

    Tetsuya Naito vs. Yujiro Takahashi

    Coming into King of Pro-Wrestling, Tetsuya Naito had sustained a serious knee injury in his G1 Climax match against Rush in July.  Despite the injury, Naito continued to wrestle through the pain for several months. Before their match officially began, Takahashi began attacking Naito's injured knee, and continued to focus on Naito's knee throughout the match.  The referee stopped the bout at 5:41 fearing for Naito's well-being when Naito refused to submit while in a reverse figure-four leglock. After the match, Takahashi attacked the referee and further injured Naito's knee with a steel chair.  Naito was stretchered out of the arena to be examined by doctors.  He ultimately underwent reconstructive knee surgery and was sidelined by this injury until June 2013.

    King of Pro-Wrestling was voted Best Major Show and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Minoru Suzuki was voted Match of the Year in the 2012 Wrestling Observer Newsletter awards.

    Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter described the event as "one of the best major events in recent history".

    Stuart of Strong Style Spirit called it "an absolutely incredible show that I highly recommend everyone see" and went on to say "this was the best top to bottom New Japan show of the year and there have been some strong shows so that is heavy praise. If you’ve fallen out of love with or just gotten bored of pro wrestling I would say give this show a try as it may remind you of how great it can be."

    After attending live, Enuhito reported on his blog that the event was "wonderful" and a "better show than (the) G1 final this year."

The fans were to vote on which of two matches would headline Wrestle Kingdom: either the Okada/Naito match for the IWGP Heavyweight title, or a match between Tanahashi and Shinsuke Nakamura for Nakamura’s IWGP Intercontinental title.
