Sidney Richard Clute (April 21, 1916 – October 2, 1985) was an American film and television actor. [ 2] He was notable for playing Detective Paul La Guardia in 57 episodes of the American police procedural drama Cagney & Lacey (1982–85). [ 3] He also played Detective Simms in 10 episodes of McCloud.
A regular member of the cast of Cagney & Lacey (1981), even after his death he was featured on the opening credits of every episode until the series ended in 1988.
