Review by Sally Jane Black. It's how you tell the story. The true story is of a rich woman who beats her servants until they fight back. The true story casts doubt on the incestuous relationship. But this version of the story leaves out the beatings, reducing it to verbal abuse and threats.
Two sisters separated in childhood reunite years later as servants at a household in France. Their happiness to be reunited spirals into an incestuous relationship.
