A woman driving a Kia Soul scoffs at the radio report about "animal attacks" plaguing Beacon Hills. She freshens her lipstick and bops to the music on the radio. The alpha starts chasing her car and looks at her through the driver's side window.
Kate's introduction at first plays out exactly like she's some poor, random person who's about to get killed by the alpha... and then she pulls out a shotgun. Wonderfully done and a great subversion of expectations. In a similar vein, Allison pulling out her bow for the first time and Scott's reaction to it.
