The series comprises five stories: The Thing from Another World — 1991, 2 issues, written by Chuck Pfarrer, artwork by John Higgins. MacReady is rescued by a Japanese research vessel, but quickly escapes and destroys what remains of Outpost 31.
MacReady and Childs trudge through the Antarctic wastes looking for a way out of their seemingly fatal predicament. Eventually, MacReady passes out, and Childs continues without him, but MacReady is found and picked up by the crew of a Japanese research ship.
