Jul 11, 2011 · The Diamond 10.1 is the first Wharfedale speaker to be voiced by European speaker designer and one-time reviewer Peter Comeau. I mounted the Diamond 10.1s on my Celestion Si stands, which are loaded with lead shot and sand.
Jun 11, 2020 · The Diamonds boast a curved cabinet, which helps to minimise unwanted internal interference, and even the surround of the Kevlar mid/bass driver has a moulded pattern to help reduce the effects of standing waves. Consequently, the Wharfedales produce a surprisingly mature sound for the money.

- Wharfedale Bronze drive unit (1932) Gilbert Briggs founded Wharfedale in 1932. Briggs was a keen music and audio enthusiast and developed the company’s first product – the Bronze drive unit – in his cellar.
- Wharfedale Corner Cabinet (1947) After the war, Briggs continued to develop his speakers. In 1947 the company released the Corner Cabinet, claimed to be the first two-way hi-fi speaker for home use.
- Wharfedale SFB/3 (1956) The Wharfedale SFB/3 was Briggs’ answer to Quad’s ESL57 electrostatics. It was a three-way, open-back speaker with a sand-filled baffle.
- Wharfedale Linton (1965) The original Linton went on to become one of the best selling speakers of its era. It started off as a two-way model with a 3in tweeter and 8in bass unit, but over time developed into a three–way design called the Linton 3XP.
Oct 9, 2013 · The three-way Diamond 10.7 has a 1" (25mm) soft-dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet, mounted in a cast-alloy surround and covered by a metal diffusion grid designed to iron out high-frequency perturbations for a smoother treble response.
It’s been nearly 30 years since Wharfedale launched the original Diamond, a diminutive and unassuming bookshelf model that sold for well south of $200 a pair. Now over five million speakers later, the 10th generation Diamond has mushroomed into a lineup with sixteen separate models, catering to both two-channel and multi-channel customers alike.
