Jan 9, 2023 · Camera and Profile icon. The profile icon with the plus symbol can be used to leave a note attached to your Instagram profile. This note will show up in your friends’ DM window. The camera icon next to a DM thread can be used to send an image or video to the recipient (s) in that conversation.

Dec 23, 2022 · In an Instagram post, the heart icon is used to “Like” that post. Liking lets the person who posted it know that you like what they posted. The heart icon is like a toggle that can go back and forth: Tap on the heart icon once to Like something, tap on it again to remove the Like. Tapping on the photo itself does the same thing.
