Honestly an episode where Monk is suicidal and finds hope in the end wouldn't be the worst. There is an episode like that, I think it's the Daredevil one? The fact it was the basis of an entire movie just made for a depressing movie. There wasn't really much going on besides Monk death wish. Just not the best premise for a movie.
