The Conference selected Colgate, a private liberal arts college in Hamilton, NY, to be its next site, after an extensive search. As we bid farewell to Bennington College, we look forward to welcoming you to Colgate in 2021, when the Conference will celebrate its 75 th year and begin a new era.
Obtain your music and start practicing promptly after receiving your coaching assignments. Obtain the score, look at other parts, and pencil in necessary cues. Number the measures in your part and score; or, if your music edition has numbered measures, check that the numbering matches our conventions (we will send you how-to instructions).

Attendance at the Conference requires the ability to independently negotiate Colgate’s walking paths, including some steep slopes. In 2024, significant construction work on the Colgate campus will impact where we can park on campus, which will in turn lead to more walking than we’ve experienced in other years.

The Chamber Music Conference and Composers' Forum of the East (CMC) is a summer conference that brings together amateur musicians, professional faculty, and composers-in-residence to study and play chamber music. The CMC was founded in 1946, and most of its summer sessions have been held at Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont.
Our 75 th Anniversary in 2022. In 2022, the Chamber Music Conference celebrated and honored our 75-year past and the impact the Conference has had on the music world. We completed a number of initiatives, focused not only on celebrating this significant milestone but also on strengthening our community and inspiring our future. History Book.
