Daft Punk were a French electronic music duo that recorded over 90 songs between 1994 and 2021. The duo has been influential in the dance and French house genres of music. [1] Beginning in 1992 as Darlin' with Laurent Brancowitz, the group disbanded in 1993, and Bangalter and de Homem-Christo formed Daft Punk.
Daft Punk formed after Bangalter and de Homem-Christo's former indie rock band, Darlin', disbanded. Their debut studio album, Homework, was released by Virgin Records in 1997 to positive reviews, backed by the singles "Around the World" and "Da Funk".
On 22 February 2021, Daft Punk announced their retirement through a video titled “Epilogue,” featuring footage from their 2004 film Electroma and the orchestral version of “Touch”.
