May 18, 2023 · Fame Recording Studios was started by the infamous Rick Hall. His original rhythm section was a studio band called the Swampers, who were to go on to establish the Muscle Shoals sound studio, and essentially what is known as the Muscle Shoals sound.
But the storyline pivots on FAME owner/record producer Rick Hall and the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, who left FAME to start their own Muscle Shoals Sound Studios, much to Hall's chagrin.
