They were precious gifts, expensive and desirable. They signified Jesus as king (gold), priest (frankincense) and Savior (myrrh). The Magi brought their very best for the baby King. And that is what we are called to do as well. The story of the Magi is a lesson of how we are to respond to the gift of the life of Jesus.

Dec 21, 2015 · In Christian history, the miracle of the Magi has inspired many legends and fables. The single, brief gospel passage in Matthew offers little detail. They came from the East, following a star. They brought gifts. They prostrated themselves in worship of the child. Even the assumption that there were three Magi is not supported by the text.
