Feb 15, 2022 · PIA was the type's launch customer, receiving its first in February 2006. Elsewhere in Asia, Air India presently has two active 777-200LRs at its disposal, alongside 10 at Emirates. Meanwhile, Qatar Airways has eight, and, in a slightly rarer turn of events, there are four active 777-200LRs at Turkmenistan Airlines.

Subsequent versions of the 777, including the 777-200ER, 777-200LR, 777-300, 777-300ER, 777F and the upcoming 777-8X and -9X, have been launched by Air France, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
The first customer was Pakistan International Airlines. The Boeing 777-200LR was introduced to the public in 2004 and was an expanded version of the successful Boeing 777-200ER. Its first flight took place in 2005, after which certification began.
