A genuine question because I keep seeing how his arc is repetitive and he is useless (especially after the timeskip). While Armin (and Hange) were dumbed down to an extent so that the Rumbling is accomplished and add some pseudo-legitimacy to it, he was nowhere near useless after timeskip.
his primary motivation in my eyes is to do what he's said he'll do since the very start: To kill all the titans (by ending the curse). Yea he's got the desire to destroy the world but that's because they're restricting his freedom and he was disappointed by them existing in that way.
