May 30, 2014 · BERLIN (AP) — Karlheinz Boehm, an Austrian actor and human rights activist who founded an aid group dedicated to helping people in Ethiopia, has died. He was 86. Boehm's group, Menschen fuer Menschen ("People for People") said he died at his home near Salzburg on Thursday. It didn't give a cause of death.

Mini Bio. The son of conductor Karl Böhm began his acting career on stage in Germany. In Europe, he is still best known for his role in the Sissi (1955) series, although he later starred in several movies of cult director Rainer Werner Fassbinder. After 1981, he was exclusively involved in charitable work in Ethiopia.
