Barry, C.C., and Susan are three teenaged friends who fixed up an old dune buggy (which they dubbed "Schlepcar"). When they attach a magic horn to the car, Schlepcar comes to life as Wonderbug. Wonderbug could fly, and it helped the teens fight crime.
In Wonderbug mode, the car was a Volkswagen-based Meyers Manx-clone body. Specifically, the body was a Dune Runner manufactured by Dune Buggy Enterprises of Westminster, California. Dune Buggy Enterprises offered the Dune Runner with three different hood choices. Wonderbug has the T-Bird hood choice.

For two seasons starting in 1976, the Krofft Supershow featured a magical dune buggy called Wonderbug. This old, beat-up, “pieces-parts” vehicle had two personalities – one of a junk car named “SCHLEPCAR” (taken from the license plate) and second, when the magic horn is played – the supercar WONDERBUG!
