5 days ago · The Bergara Mountain 2.0, Kimber Mountain Ascent, Bergara Premier, Browning X-Bolt Pro, Seekins Havac, Weatherby Mark V, Fierce Edge, Christensen Ridgeline, and others are all rifles I’m familiar with. - 5. Mossberg Patriot. Working from worst to best, our list starts with the Mossberg Patriot. After pulling it out of the box, it seemed like it was going to be our number one pick.
- 4. Thompson Center Compass. The TC Compass is overall not a bad gun. There are some weird things on it that you need to watch out for, though. That includes an annoying bolt release, which you have to hold halfway down to get it out.
- Remington Model 783. Out of the box, we really wanted to hate this gun. For a composite stock, it feels like a cheap plastic bb gun stock. They even used plastic sling studs AND the recoil pad… it is so cheaply made and way too firm to provide any kind of relief.
- Savage Axis. To put it simply, the Savage Axis is a very solid, unremarkable gun. The build quality is fine (better than others but at the same time, not the best.)
Feb 1, 2024 · Test #6: Accuracy. Best: Ruger, Mauser, CVA, Bergara. Worst: Mossberg Patriot. My top picks for the most accurate hunting rifles in the test would be: the Bergara B14 Hunter, CVA Cascade, Ruger American, Ruger American Go Wild, Savage Axis II, and the Mauser M18.

For each gun we gave them a rating based on accuracy, build, trigger, action, use, and the price… and then we totaled it all up. - Ruger American Go Wild! The Ruger American has become a beloved rifle at the low end of the market. Compared to dozens of other cheap rifles I’ve reviewed for the Backfire Youtube Channel, the Ruger American is one of the only ones that I’ve found to shoot reliably accurate groups.
- Savage 110 Ultralite. Savage was one of the first rifle makers to embrace the 7 PRC. While many companies announced support at the launch of the cartridge, Savage is actually shipping rifles and brought it to no less than 11 different models immediately.
- Browning X-Bolt. The Browning X-Bolt line is a very compelling option for 7mm PRC. X-Bolt rifles are always styled to look cool, and I’ve found the manufacturing quality to be very reliable.
- Fierce Carbon Rogue. Fierce Firearms is a smaller rifle maker who creates all of their firearms in Utah. They stick out to me for a few reasons: (1) They are experts with carbon fiber so they’re rifles are usually very light, and (2) they make the coolest looking rifles on the market.
