Bootham School is a private Quaker boarding school, on Bootham in the city of York in England. It accepts boys and girls ages 3–19 and had an enrolment of 605 pupils in 2016. It is one of seven Quaker schools in England. The school was founded by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) and opened on 6 January 1823 in Lawrence Street, York.
What do the Fees Include? The fees include a mid-day meal freshly cooked and served on the premises for all full-time pupils and those in Nursery who attend a full day. Before School Care (BSC) is available – any child arriving at the School between 8.00 and 8.20 am will be billed £1.70 per day.
Bootham School wants to see their pupils succeed and progress into thoughtful, knowledgeable and positive young people. Starting at the age of 3, students can stay enrolled in the school until they’re 18 and ready to go in search of higher study, their first job, or a well-earned gap year.
Bootham School celebrated a strong set of GCSE results in 2023, despite national grades falling back to 2019 levels. With 52% of grades at 7-9, there were a number of outstanding results for individuals – with 15 pupils achieving a sweep of these top end grades, straight As in the old system.
