    • The Joker. The personification and embodiment of pure evil, malevolence, and chaos, The Joker is possibly the most iconic comic book villain of all time.
    • Doomsday. While Lex Luthor is often considered Superman’s arch-enemy, he’s never been able to actually kill the man of steel. Doomsday, on the other hand, has.
    • Darkseid. The mighty ruler of Apokolips, Darkseid is a literal God. He is one of the most feared entities in the DC universe. Drawing parallels with Marvel’s Thanos, Darkseid’s ultimate goal is to gain control over the Anti-Life Equation.

These are the villains who have ensured over the decades and managed to leave their mark on DC's comics, movies, TV series, and video games.

DC villains don't get much bigger or more universe-threatening than the Anti-Monitor. The cold, inhuman antithesis to the Monitors that oversee the multiverse, the Anti-Monitor hails from the anti-matter universe and is obsessed with destroying all other universes. It nearly succeeded in the Crisis on Infinite Earth's storyline, leaving the DCU a drastically different place in its wake. Even now, it remains one of the most overwhelming enemies of the Green Lantern Corps, and was a major foe during the stellar second half of Green Lantern: The Animated Series.

Mr. Freeze has been a mainstay of the Batman franchise for decades. But the villain didn't truly come into his own until his debut on Batman: The Animated Series. The episode "Heart of Ice" revamped Freeze from a simple madman with a cold gun to a tragic, brooding scientist who dealt with the loss of his wife by cutting off his humanity and trying to make all of Gotham as cold as his own heart. It was a take that has profoundly influenced Freeze's portrayal in every medium.
