Frederik IX ( Danish: Christian Frederik Franz Michael Carl Valdemar Georg; 11 March 1899 – 14 January 1972) was King of Denmark from 1947 to 1972. [3] Frederik was born into the House of Glücksburg during the reign of his great-grandfather King Christian IX.

Frederick IX, 1899–1972, king of Denmark (1947–72), son and successor of Christian X. He married (1935) Princess Ingrid of Sweden. Because he did not have a son the constitution was amended in 1953 to allow for a female heir to the throne; Frederick was succeeded by his daughter, Queen Margaret II.
Frederik IX was King of Denmark 1947–1972. In 1935 he married Princess Ingrid of Sweden, daughter of the then Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf (later King Gustaf VI Adolf) and Crown Princess Margaretha. They had three daughters, Margarethe, Benedikte and Anne-Marie. Frederik IX of Denmark died in 1972.
