Jason George was born in Tehachapi, California. He was an Eagle Scout; interned with NASA at Edwards Air Force Base, and was appointed to West Point Military Academy after one year of study at California State University at Bakersfield.

In high school, Jason played saxophone in the jazz band and participated in a variety of sports, including baseball, tennis, and football (he was a place kicker). He was also active in scouting and was an intern at NASA.
