Jul 10, 2005 · NO, Lubalox (CT Ballistic Tip) is an oxide-based coating, which reduces fouling and allows more shooting between cleanings, also Lubalox does not buildup in the barrel and requires only normal cleaning procedures. Moly (CT Fail Safe & Partition Gold) is a molybdenum disulfide coating which reduces fouling and friction.
Jan 27, 2010 · Lubalox is a nickel alloy based lubricant that is only a few molecules thick and crosslinked with the copper, zinc of the bullet They are not sticky like Moly coating. It does leave a little residue in the bore but it comes out easily with a copper brush or a few solvent patches.

I have previously shot Winchester ballistic tip projectiles in my hunting/target rifle and not seen any negative effects that I could attribute to the coating. I have now rebarreled and am reconsidering using the coated projectiles and figured someone here would have more experience than I do with them.

May 12, 2015 · Lubalox is a coating for jacketed bullets, I've shot hundreds of them in the form of Winchester Failsafes/Black Talons and Nosler/Combined Technoloy Ballistic Silvertips, it works as advertised. It's hard to remove from the bore, but never really felt the need to.
